Our homes can say a lot about us.  They are an incredible form of self-expression and creating that home is a very personal process.  Whether you are single or married, with kids or living in an empty nest, dwelling in a country farmhouse or an apartment in a bustling city, you want your home to be your safe place.....your sanctuary.  It is your haven away from work and the troubles of the world.  And it should be filled with things that inspire you, remind you of happy moments, and bring you peace.  Where you live should look and feel like somewhere you can't wait to return to.

Last week, I was taking a look at many of the pins that I've been saving on Pinterest and saw a few patterns.  One of them was the use of antlers in decorating.  While I can't say that I actually would use this trend in my own space, they seem to be popping up in the styled rooms that I like.  And I think the look may be growing on me.


On one hand, the thought of decorating with antlers reminds me of being in a man cave filled with someone's hunting trophies.  Buck heads on the wall.....stuffed turkeys sitting on the floor....and dark wood paneled walls.  Not my type of decor.

There seems to be a new trend in furniture of having chairs that are deconstructed.  Rather than perfectly upholstered pieces, we're seeing chairs that look as though they are waiting for the next step in the upholstery process.  I'm honestly not sure how I feel about the look.  Part of me loves the pretty (aka expensive) Restoration Hardware chairs, but some make me feel like the trend has gone too far.

Decorating with empty picture frames can be a great way to add a little personality and interest to your decor without spending much money at all.  When I was staging my desk to share with you a few weeks ago, I used a couple random frames to lean on the desktop.  I realized that I use empty frames quite a bit in my decorating and thought I'd put together a little collection of some great ideas that I've seen.
