Gingersnaps with Apple Cider Glaze | Fall Baking Week

Give a traditional gingersnap cookie a fall twist by adding a drizzle of apple cider glaze.

The final day of my first ever Fall Baking Week has come.   Have you been following along and baking up some delicious fall treats?  The links to all the recipes this week appear at the end of this post.

Since I was inspired to have this week by one of my favorite blogs, Inspired By Charm, it seemed only appropriate to choose a cookie recipe that Michael has shared during his own Fall Cookie Weeks of the past.  Although I've made quite a few of his recipes, I decided to try one that I haven't made in the past.....Gingersnaps with Apple Cider Glaze.

With little time in the morning to prepare a big breakfast, I like to find recipes that can be prepared ahead of time.   Coffee cake is always at the top of the list because its stays fresh and provides a "fancy" breakfast for a few days without a whole lot of work.  As an added bonus, I feel like they can be served any time of the day when you need a quick sweet fix.

Vanilla Walnut Crescent Cookies | Fall Baking Week

Tired of seeing pumpkin recipes this season?  Try these flaky and tender Vanilla Walnut Crescents that are  filled with a pinch of fall flavor.

Welcome back to day two of my first ever Fall Baking Week.  In case you missed it, this week is devoted entirely to whipping up delicious treats inspired by the flavors of fall.  Yesterday's recipe was for Pumpkin Chocolate Chip of my personal favorites out of what I'll be sharing.

There are some people who love pumpkin everything when the fall season arrives....

And then there are others who cringe at the thought of seeing another thing that has had pumpkin added into the recipe.  If you are in this camp, you'll be happy to know that not every recipe this week features the orange fruit.  For example, today we are baking Vanilla Walnut Crescent Cookies.  The recipe was found on the Taste of Home website.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies | Fall Baking Week

What says fall flavor more than pumpkin?  This recipe for pumpkin chocolate chip cookies gives a fancy bakery touch to a traditional favorite cookie for the autumn season.

Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Chip Cookies....a perfect recipe for fall baking. |

Every year, fall gets me into the mood to do some baking.  So many recipes for pumpkin, apple, and nut flavored treats bombard my Pinterest feed, and my taste buds crave the comforting autumn flavors.  But then life gets busy and before I realize it, fall is over and I never tried making even one of those recipes.  Sound familiar? #bestofintentions

Sometimes all I need is a push in the right direction and a little inspiration.  For the past five years, Michael at Inspired By Charm has held Fall Cookie Week on his blog and is often the source of many of those must-try recipes.

I decided this season to devote a whole week here on anderson + grant to fall baking and try some of those recipes for cookies, cakes, and breads that have made my mouth water in the past.  (FYI, Michael's Fall Cookie Week was last week and his Frosted Carrot Cake cookies look like ones that must be added to my recipe files!)

The fall season has always made me feel excited for the opportunity to once again start fresh.  Whether it was getting a new box of colored pencils to take with me on the first day of third grade or moving into a college apartment that needed decorated and organized, autumn meant that I could begin again.  Even now, many years later, I go into September with a renewed sense of anything being possible because I can start with a clean slate.

Welcome back after a long weekend!  It is almost unfathomable to believe that the fall season is officially here.  It seems like only a few weeks ago, kids were getting out of school and we were filled with plans and expectations for the summer break.  And with PA temperatures in the high 80s, the season still feels and looks like summer.  I'm not complaining.

I took a short three day vacation over the weekend for a little relaxation and retail therapy.  Strange as it sounds, my mom and I drove for close to two and a half hours to come home with a vehicle full of cornstalks, pumpkins, and fall essentials.
