FALL   |   Published September 13, 2017

There is a real love-hate relationship between fall and me.

Its arrival signals the end of my favorite season and the freedom that comes with it. Gone are the longer days of warmth and endless sunlight. I've never been too much of a fan of saying goodbye or seeing anything coming to an end and that holds true at summer's final bow.

But because each season seems to have its perks, I am also able to see the magical qualities that fall possesses in addition to its fleeting natural beauty.

A part of me loves it because I feel like autumn brings the chance to start over. In my mind, I'm still able to return to those days of going back to school with new clothes, unsharpened pencils and unused notebooks, and connecting with different friends. Each school year brought the possibility of new adventures and new beginnings. Whoever I was the previous year didn't matter anymore.

Even though I've been out of school and college for years now, I still find my heart believing that fall is my time to wipe the slate clean and start fresh. The season fills me with hope that great things are ahead if I am willing to make them happen.

The key to finding that magic of fall isn't so much in the dreaming and believing, though. It is in the doing.

Nothing is going to change or get better if you aren't willing to take the leap towards what you want and trust that each step forward is moving you closer to what your heart desires. While I know that nothing ensures we will ever get what we want in life, it is far better to try than to be left wondering what could have been if you had.

To encourage myself to keep working towards my goals this fall, I created a printable to hang on my wall.

I also wanted to share it with you today as part of a tour hosted by Kristen from Ella Claire. We are each sharing a free printable made for you to use this season and links and images to everyone's creations appear at the end of this post.

(I've also gathered all of the other fall printables I've shared on one page if you'd like to see some other options for seasonal wall art.)

At the end of August, I took a drive with my mom to Sprague's Maple Farms in Portville, New York. They have a path up through the woods behind their restaurant and while taking a walk, I had to snap this picture of a bend in the trail. It was at a spot where you could continue forward to parts of the path that couldn't be seen or you could turn around and go back the way you came.

The scene in front of me seemed like the perfect representation of the opportunity we each have this fall. You can stick with what you know, what seems like the safe choice, and let the next few months pass as they normally would. Or you can choose the path that leads to places unknown, the one that could have something worth remembering waiting at the end.

How to Print Fall Décor

To download the free Starting Over printable, click on the link below to be taken to a file that you can print immediately or save to your computer using the icons in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. I've also included an image without the quote if you'd prefer to have just the forest picture.

  • If you aren’t printing it right away, but sure to save it somewhere you’ll be able to easily locate it again. It is really useful to create a special folder specifically for printables so you can keep them organized and accessible year after year in case you ever want to print them out again.

  • You can also send the downloaded file to a local or online print shop like Staples or Vistaprint. This gives you a quality piece of décor for not a lot of money (and you don’t waste your colored ink at home!)

  • If you are printing it out at home, I recommend using white cardstock. It is thicker than normal paper and gives you a more professional, lasting piece of art.

  • You’ll need to trim the 8 ½x11 printed page slightly to fit in your 8x10 frame, or place it in a larger frame with a mat.

As always, this free printable is available for your personal use only and should not be altered in any way or sold for a profit. And if you’d like to share this with a friend, please provide them with a link to this post over just passing along the PDF.
