How to Fix a Broken Roll Top Desk

Tips on how to fix a broken rolltop desk | Anderson & Grant

Fixing a broken roll top desk is not nearly as hard as you might think.  Last Friday, I shared with you the desk that I fixed up and painted.  One of the things that was wrong with this yard sale find was that it had a broken roll top.  I had no idea how a roll top was put together when I bought the desk, but I assumed that I could figure out how to piece it back together.

Yard Sale Desk Makeover

Do you ever see a piece of really junky furniture and wonder if it still has potential? Check out this furniture transformation for proof that even the worst pieces can be made into something beautiful! |

I'm finally ready to show you the finished desk that I rescued from a yard sale at the beginning of the summer.  It was a long process and I let it sit many times just waiting for inspiration to hit about how to fix various problems it had.  But it is completed now, and it may be one of my favorite furniture transformations ever!  It truly is a complete transformation from something destined for the landfill to a piece perfect for any home.

Getting Organized by Sorting through My Clothes

Getting Organized by Sorting through Clothes |
So today's post isn't a typical "Here's five things you can do to organize your closet" type of organizing post.  There isn't any before pictures to make the after shots look amazing.  There isn't anything to recommend buying to aid in getting organizing.  It is just a post about what I did to find a sense of organization with my clothes and why I needed to do it.

Add a festive patriotic touch to the Deviled Eggs you take to a Fourth of July summer picnic by dying the eggs red, white, and blue.

Easy DIY Photo Backdrop

As a blogger, I am constantly trying to find ways to make my photography better.  One of the problems I have is trying to take pictures of things that I make in good natural light without a distracting background.  There is perfect natural light in my dining room, but I don't have large sections of bare wall available without moving heavy furniture and decorations.  I don't mind taking the time to move things around if I'm taking pictures of a piece of furniture or something large, but it is time consuming to move everything for one small product shot.  And normally, by the time I get everything moved around and set up, the light has moved on.
