I've spent a lot of time over the past few months looking through online stores for the right products necessary for my living room makeover, in-progress breakfast nook, and upcoming entryway.  In the process of searching for what I need, many more things catch my eye and get my mind designing, even though they rarely have anything to do with the room I'm working on at the time.

Rather than let these mental mood boards go to waste, I decided I'd occasionally share how I see things coming together with the products I find, just in case you are wanting to update a room in your own home.  Hopefully I can serve as your own personal design assistant lending some guidance, absolutely free of charge.

Today I want to place my focus on a simple refresh in the bathroom.  It never ceases to amaze me at how much impact a few new things like a shower curtain and toothbrush holder can have on a room.  It isn't always necessary to completely remodel with tile, fixtures, and lighting in order to feel better with your home.

Now more than ever, we need spaces that inspire calm and respite.  And with our limited shopping options and tightening wallets at the moment, I wanted to show how a few small accessories could come together for a completely different bathroom, all thanks to one of our favorite stores - Target.

CALM + NEUTRAL BATHROOM REFRESH

Awhile back, I pinned this shower curtain just in case it would fit into my future bathroom design.  (I really hate when I see something I like and then can't find it again when I actually need it!)

I love that the neutral design allows you to go in different design directions with the room and the trim along the bottom makes it something special.  My belief is that you should always start designing with one piece of inspiration in mind, and go from there.

TEXTILES

After choosing the shower curtain, I searched for textiles to coordinate with it.  Every bath needs towels and bath mats or rugs.

I really loved the texture in this particular rug and think it keeps nicely with the style of the shower curtain.  As an accent, I picked a very special hand towel to go with the dark bath towels over just an ordinary hand towel.

MIRROR

Target has some really pretty statement mirrors in their inventory.  This one is especially nice thanks to the detail at the top.  Since there is so little decor you can place in a bathroom, I think mirrors are accessory where you can really add some style.

ACCESSORIES

Things like toothbrush holders, hand soap dispensers, and trays are essential to bathrooms and can be changed out for not a lot of money.  I love to mix and match accessories breaking up "sets" because it makes what you have seem collected rather than newly purchased right off the shelf.  The three pieces I chose all have accents of gold, but I went with a different green glass toothbrush holder for the variety.

Another inexpensive change you can make in the bathroom (or kitchen) is to switch out the door hardware.  For about $15, you can add new knobs onto ten drawers and cupboards.

And art is always a good investment. While I love this floral print for the way it coordinates with the shower curtain and pop of green in the toothbrush holder, I think it would be equally nice used in a different room later on when you decide to do another refresh.

Whether your buy these products, shop around for similar items, or use what you already have, I hope this mood board has inspired you to give a little makeover to your bathroom without spending a great deal of money.
