During the cold winter months, we all understand the importance of having a cozy throw or two close at hand.  There is nothing much that I like better than being able to snuggle under a soft blanket for a night of TV watching  or reading by the fireplace.  There is something comforting about being wrapped up indoors while the wind and snow blow outside the window.


But what we turn to for warmth is also a valuable item to add a decorative touch to our homes.


Toss one over the arm of a chair.....Lay one across the back of a couch or at the foot of your bed......Or roll a few and tuck them into a decorative basket.


Decorative throws provide a pop of color in an otherwise neutral space.  The soft furs and woven fabrics add texture.  And much like with throw pillows, these blankets are an opportunity to break out of a style rut and experiment with something you wouldn't normally buy....without investing a lot of money.


You can pick up stylish throws just about everywhere, including your local dollar store.  It isn't so much about how much you spend or where you purchase them.  What is important is that the blanket catches your eye and will fit in with the decor you have.  It is an accent that you can afford to change year after year.
