Repurposed Log Carrier Bag

December 6, 2013

CHRISTMAS   |   Published December 6, 2013

I'm always on the lookout for unique items that I can paint pictures on.  I was at a sale and found this great old log carrier bag.  It has been used and shows some wear but was a perfect surface for adding a snowman.

This was a project that I started and completed so quickly that I never took the time to do a step-by-step tutorial.  I think that it is simple enough for  you to follow along, though!

My snowman is painted with light buttermilk and shaded with cocoa (both made by Americana).  His nose is burnt umber and his hat, eyes, and buttons are black.  I also painted some twigs in his hand with a few different shades of brown and cream.

The greenery is a couple of Christmas tree branches that I wired together.  (Christmas trees at Goodwill or yard sales are great sources of cheap greenery!).   I fluffed the greenery and set it in the center of the bag.

I tied a bow to the handle and attached a rusty jingle bell.

I love that the log carrier has found a new life as a great decoration.  What do you think?
