Friday Randomness

Does anyone else out there find weeks when a holiday falls on a Monday extremely weird?  I've been a day behind this whole week.  Hopefully, I don't wake up on Sunday and realize I missed the best day of the week!

That being said, Memorial Day completely threw off my blogging schedule.  I've got projects started, but nothing done.  So, today seemed like the perfect day to touch on some topics and thoughts I've got rolling around in my head.

.....................................................................................................................

I'm working on two projects right now....

One is the the plant stand that I'm turning into an outdoor side table.  You may have seen this on Instagram (which by the way, are you following me on IG?  I'm way behind times, I know, but I've finally started to consistently post there.  I'd love to have you join me there if you haven't already!)

The table has had some of the rust removed with a wire brush and has been spray painted once.  It should be ready for you to see on Monday.

The other project is the second piece of furniture that I picked up from my grandma's neighbor.  (The other, a side table, can be seen finished here.)  This is just a sneak peek of the before....please excuse the dust.

The whole thing was going to be painted, but you know me and sanding down to bare wood lately.  For some reason, I always misjudge just how long sanding wood is going to take.  Hopefully that will all be completed next week, too.

And while we're on the topic of furniture, can I just say how overwhelmed and humbled I am by everyone's love of my rustic footstool?  It was even featured on Miss Mustard Seed's link party last night, which sent me through the roof.  When creating something, it is always hard to tell whether or not it will be a hit or a miss.  Obviously, this one was a hit, so thank you!

Another hit seems to be the book, "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing."(affiliate link)  I haven't read it yet, and I'm trying to have the self-control to not add another book to my collection until I actually have the time to read it.  I mean, seriously, the book is about decluttering.  Buying another book to gather dust on the shelf is not decluttering.

I have, however, found a new blog through someone's blog post about this book.  The Minimalists is my new favorite place to waste some time browsing.  And they've totally inspired me to start getting rid of all my belongings....I just haven't had the time to start that yet either.  Seriously, though, their blog really makes you stop and think about all the stuff in your life and whether it is helping or hurting you.

I've added a few songs to my playlist recently that I seem to keep replaying over and over.

Renegades by X Ambassadors
Lost in My Mind by The Head and the Heart
Beautiful Life by American Idol winner Nick Fradiani
Riptide by Vance Joy
Ghost by Ella Henderson
Fight Song by Rachel Platten (I'm choosing this as my personal anthem right now.)

And finally, remember the LONG post  I wrote a little over a month ago about blogging and trying to take my own path?  The comments and emails I received about that post were incredibly helpful.  And since then, I've been trying to stay true to me and do things that I love.  This past month I've been working harder and longer, yet I'm happier and more content.  Through all this, I've tried to remind myself of what my friend Gina said, "If you want it - then your time & season will come too."  And I'm excited to say that something great is happening.....an offer that came out of the blue....an offer that I didn't even have to think twice about saying yes to.  I can't disclose quite yet what that something is.  But I wanted to let all of you know who are struggling with the same feelings I wrote about, that when you stop stressing over where you're headed and how far behind you are, when you stop taking the enjoyment out of what you're doing, something great may be able to find it's way to you.

Thanks for letting me bend your ear a bit today.  Have a great weekend friends!
