$2 to Put a Smile on My Face

August 1.....is July seriously over already?  Anyone who has some suggestions about how to slow down time, feel free to leave some comments below!

Today is going to be totally random......I've got projects in the works, but nothing done enough or photographed to share.  But I also hate when I disappear for days at a time, so here is a few little tidbits to tide you over until next week.

I found these beautiful paper napkins at JoAnn Fabrics.....at 30% off.  (I'll never understand why holiday merchandise at JoAnn's is always almost a clearance price before the season even gets here.  That is a whole other story for another day, though.)  For about $2, I knew I had to have these.  Aren't they pretty?  And totally me.  A package of napkins made my day.

My mom and I started tearing apart her kitchen for a new open space into the dining room.  This has been a long process just to get started.  If you remember, I showed you a pantry cupboard in May that I painted in March that had been purchased in October of last year.

We've thrown around a bunch of idea on how would be the best and most cost effective way to maintain ample storage space while opening everything up.  About 25 years ago, my dad had remodeled the kitchen and built in cupboards and a pantry cupboard dividing the kitchen from the dining room.  So that all had to be taken out....probably not work for two women on their own, but we got it done.  We've decided to keep the existing cupboards because they are still in very good condition  and will be using them to build an island in the center of the kitchen area.  This requires a little DIY and some additions like a built in garbage can and spice rack.

This is where my nights have been spent for the past week and a half.  The kitchen is pretty much torn apart (aside from removing the rest of the floor tile and counter top) and now we get to start working on the rebuilding.  Here is just the a little glimpse of the room in transition.

I saw these Extra Fudgey Berry Bliss Cheesecake Brownies from the blog Club Narwhal at a link party the other night.  I cannot even imagine how good these must taste.  Seriously......berries, chocolate, and cheesecake.  What could be more tasty?  I may need to whip up some of these soon.

And finally, here is a closeup preview of a DIY project I'll be sharing here next week.  Just a little something to keep you interested!

Enjoy your weekend friends!
