My First Yard Sale Visit of the Summer

Great finds at a yard sale for $17 | www.andersonandgrant.com

Isn't it exciting the weather has finally gotten warm enough that garage sales have started to pop up?  You know summer is finally here (or at least close) when you see the signs being hung up around town.

Last Friday, I had my first yard sale visit of the new year, and I scored big.  For some, my pile of "treasures" may look like I got ripped off.  But I am absolutely thrilled with what I bought....all for a mere $17.

My pile consisted of.....

A wood framed chair....It is actually super comfy and just needs a little refinishing and a new cushion.

A metal medicine cabinet like the one I turned into a message center....I bought it with the idea that I would do the same thing again, but now I'm thinking I would like to turn it into something different.  Any thoughts?

A sewing table with the original vintage sewing machine.

A rolltop desk...this desk is a little worse for the wear (making it even more perfect in my book!).  The rolltop is broke (but all the pieces are there) and the drawer on the side is gone....but I have a vision!

And two small white bowls, a pretty flower plate with a 22k gold design, and four (free) boards with routered edges.

I'm so excited about the potential each of these pieces holds.  Everything needs work, but there isn't anything that can't be turned into something great.   Times like this remind me of what I really love and enjoy doing.  There is something empowering about purchasing what many people would see as junk knowing I have the ability to turn it into an amazing piece.  Just the act of purchasing makes me feel creative.....like I have a good eye for things that can be refurbished.  It honestly makes me feel like a blogger, if that makes any sense!

Now I can't wait to get working and show you the finished transformations.  I have some ideas about what to do, but I would love to hear what you think could be done!
