I was totally unaware of her great blog, and didn't really know anything about this award, either. So in addition to getting a little recognition, I now have another great blog I can follow! I'm loving this post that she did recently on making a Halloween wreath for her front door. Isn't it creative? It was made for under $6, too, which I think makes it even more fabulous!

Miranda also has a Etsy shop called Paper Lark Studio where she sells amazing prints, announcements, and invitations.
So, what is the Liebster Award? (I had to investigate that question myself!) It is basically recognition that is passed from blogger to blogger to help promote new and promising blogs. Liebster is a German word that means kindest, nicest, and valued....all things you want to feel you are as a blogger! When you receive the award, you are required to answer a series of 11 questions, and then come up with 11 new questions to pass on to other bloggers that you want to see the award go to. The "rules" of this award vary depending on which blog you read, but basically you just need to pick a few blogs with less than 200 subscribers that really inspire you and pass the award on!
So here are my questions from Miranda, and can I just say, that while some were easy, don't have to think about them questions, others were really though provoking!:
Who has had the biggest influence on you?
The biggest influence in my life has been my mom. She is my best friend and has stood by me through everything. She is a strong individual that has worked hard to provide a wonderful life for me. She's kept going through all the trials that have been thrown her way. She is truly an inspiration and has influenced who I am today.
What do you like about blogging?
There is so much! For one thing, having a blog has encouraged me to spend time doing things that I love, like painting furniture and cooking and it has really pushed me to think creatively. I also like the friendships that I am developing in the blog world.
What do you dislike about blogging? (Be honest!)
Part of what I dislike is just the amount of time that I have to devote to blogging. But, on the other hand, I'm loving having a blog, so I don't actually mind the amount of time I spend on it. If that makes any sense! The part that I dislike the most is that it can be discouraging when things don't go right or I don't get the response I was hoping for and some days I have to force myself to keep typing and keep creating. That is part of the whole blogging process, though!
Three favorite online shopping websites.
I love shopping, but to be honest, I don't do much shopping online. I'm more of a "go into a store, try things on, touch and feel what I'm buying" kind of person. The place I spend the most time actually purchasing things is Amazon. I also like looking around PotteryBarn.com and Banana Republic.com.
Something you've learned recently.
Although I'm definitely still learning in this area, I would say I've learned a lot about photography recently. Pictures are so important on a blog. There are many times when I will just scan through pictures, whether it is on a blog, in a magazine, or in a book. I'm a visual person. And I knew before starting a blog what I enjoyed looking at, but it has really been a learning experience trying to make my pictures look like pictures I would like to see. There is so much that goes into taking great photos and while I'm still working at it, I feel as though I've learned a lot already.
What is your favorite quote and why?
I am a lover of quotes that inspire me. I have a notebook where I write down quotes I want to keep and have a pinterest board devoted to them. So, it is hard for me to pick my favorite. Here are a few that I love.
What is your favorite form of social media and why?
Hands down, I love Pinterest over all other forms of social media. I'm not a very social person, so Facebook and Twitter are an effort for me. But a place where I can show what I've created and spend time getting inspired by what others are making and doing? I'm there!!!
What is your favorite season?
My favorite season is summer....I love the hot weather, seeing flowers growing outside, picnics, sunshine. I'm not a fan of cold weather and snow!
If you could travel anywhere without money being an object, where would you go and why?
I would probably have to pick Hawaii because I've heard it is a beautiful place and I'd love to spend some time just lying on the beach in the sun! I'd also like to travel through Europe (England, France, Scotland, Ireland, Germany) and visit all the old historical places and see where my ancestors came from.
What is the hardest thing you have ever done, or the biggest obstacle you have faced in your life?
The biggest obstacle I've faced was my dad passing away when I was 13 years old. He and I were very close and it was a big adjustment to lose him. I think that is one reason why my mom and I are are so close now, though.
What are 3 of your future goals?
Honestly, it is hard to pick three....I'm a list maker and a planner...I'm constantly thinking of things I'd like to do and ideas that I have for the future. I would say three of my biggest goals would be getting published somehow, either in a magazine or writing a book, buying a cute fixer-upper that I can turn into my dream home, and to be able to make a living doing something I love.
